GIESEL SPRINGS. The 1951 '''Dubuque City Directory''' listed the building as a bar on Sageville Road. The site is currently 17247 Sageville Road. According to Peru Township resident Frank Neises (1894-1980), there were springs adjacent to it, and farmers with their wagons and teams would stop there, while going to or coming from Dubuque, to water their horses. They would also go into the bar to attend to their own thirst. Giesel Springs was also the affiliation of a team that played town baseball with the teams from Balltown, Sherrill, and Riverside (<I>Telegraph-Herald</i>, April 27, 1933).
